My story:

I grew up in upstate New York and moved to the Chicago area when I was teenager. My family spent the summers on Lake George in the Adirondack Mountains. I love kayaking, swimming, hiking and sitting on the dock with a good book! I was raised in a Methodist home, attended youth group and sang in the church choir (if you heard my voice you would know that our church choir only required that one have a passion to sing, and a heart for God!) I majored in business administration at Butler University and went on to graduate school to earn a MBA at Virginia Commonwealth University. After completing my degree, I moved to Washington, D.C. and worked for Aetna as a marketing representative, and then as an employee benefits consultant for a small consulting firm. It was in Washington, D.C. that I met my husband, Mike, on a blind date. (Yes, sometimes they are successful!) A few months later, he proposed to me on a sunset canoe ride at a place he knew was very special to me, Lake George. We were married in 1989 and have three wonderful children: Elizabeth, Christopher and Matthew. With three children, I decided to become a full time stay-at-home mom. When Matthew started school, I became certified in early childhood education and taught preschool part-time for thirteen years.

My journey to TCC:

Mike accepted a job in the Boston area in 1998. We moved to Wayland where we immediately fell in love with TCC. We were both drawn to the wonderful Christ centered community here. We can both say that it was the ministries at TCC that profoundly deepened our faith and relationship with Jesus Christ. I attended Women’s Bible Study, served on the Mom-to-Mom Planning Team, and volunteered in Children’s Ministry for many years. When the Children’s Ministry Assistant position opened up in 2014, I was happily teaching preschool, but felt that God was calling me to serve elsewhere. Working with children is my passion; it is such a blessing to not only teach but to have the opportunity to help children grow in their faith and relationship with Jesus Christ.

A meaningful verse to me:

Proverbs 3:5-6 - “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
