Men’s Bible Study – Revelation (Fall 2018)

Rev in Six

October 10 – November 14

“They will make war on the lamb, and the lamb will conquer them for He is Lord of lords and King of Kings, and those with Him are called and chosen and faithful” (Rev. 17:14).

For many, the book of Revelation can seem like a daunting and confusing book to study. Its prophetic voice and outrageous imagery seems to have little to do with our daily lives. But the vision of John speaks right to our day and age, as political and social powers continue to dominate the news, we look to this book for wisdom in how to navigate the complexities of life as citizens of earthly countries, but ultimately citizens of heaven.

Whose side are you on? For John, the recorder of the vision, there are no shades of grey: it’s either Caesar or Jesus. The book of Revelation prepares us to the reality that before glory comes sacrifice: in the life of Jesus and in the lives of His disciples, in every generation. Behind the sacrifice, however, lies absolute victory.  As you and I learn to make choices where Jesus takes center stage, we too will be called to bear witness and count the cost.  But the encouragement and comfort of Revelation is that in spite of sometimes stiff opposition, we are left with no doubt as to who is really in charge of this late great planet earth! In the end, Jesus alone is King of kings and Lord of lords.

Join Rev. Dr. Tom Petter as he draws from years of study to unpack this book into its basic structure, revealing the interpretive keys to understand Revelation as a whole. The structure the book itself is actually quite straightforward:
