What is your ministry?

The Bible Seminary of Brussels is a Christ-centered learning and fellowship community. It is a French-language non-denominational evangelical ministry located at the heart of the new Europe, in its capital city of Brussels, Belgium. Its varied program includes courses, seminars, worship services and other activities.

What is your role in that ministry?

Carlton is president of the Seminary, adding the responsibility of long-range development to his other work for the school, which includes the oversight of its program and curriculum, teaching, recruiting and interviewing prospective students, publicity and public relations. Dottie is involved in the teaching ministry and administration of the school and is responsible for the pastoral care of the students.

What religious groups do you serve?

The Bible Seminary of Brussels is a Christ-centered learning and fellowship community. It is a French-language non-denominational evangelical ministry located at the heart of the new Europe, in its capital city of Brussels, Belgium. Its varied program includes courses, seminars, worship services and other activities. Programs are designed to be of interest to all levels, from seekers exploring the Christian faith for the first time to mature Christian leaders with years of ministry experience. This includes, for example, lay people who wish to deepen their knowledge and experience of the Christian faith; Bible study, home group and youth leaders; Sunday school teachers, Christian counselors, church leaders, pastors and professional theologians.

What age groups do you serve?

In terms of age, our youngest student this year was 19—and the oldest was 91! Our students’ median age varies from year to year, but generally their ages run from the 20s to the 50s, with some older and some younger students.

What is the country and location of your ministry?

Brussels, Belgium. Being a French-speaking ministry, most of our work takes place in the regions of Belgium where French is spoken, Brussels and Wallonia (the southern half of the country).

What is the geographic area you serve?

Brussels is the capital of the new Europe and one of the major crossroads of the world today. Because of the international character of the city of Brussels, the Seminary is a truly international ministry. We have ministered to students from all continents and many different nationalities, and our former students are literally scattered across the globe.

Briefly describe your current ministry.

We are involved in the teaching ministry and administration of the Seminary. Carlton is president of the school, adding the responsibility of its long-range development to his other work for the school, which includes the oversight of its programs, curriculum, teaching, recruiting and interviewing prospective students, and speaking at churches, camps and retreats.

Our ministry revolves around three axes; the Biblical Seminary, church-related ministry and other ministry activities outside these two spheres. Because of the great teaching needs among Christians in Belgium and because of the need for trained and Biblically grounded Christian leaders, we invest much time in teaching. We are also involved in camping, retreats and conferences because these are effective for impacting people’s lives for the Lord.
