Dr. David Gill » “The Presence of the Lord” » Luke 24:13-32
David Spinale » Missions Spotlight, Intervarsity Christian Fellowship
As they came near the village to which they were going, he [Jesus] walked ahead as if he were going on. But they urged him strongly, saying, “Stay with us, because it is almost evening and the day is now nearly over.” So he went in to stay with them. When he was at the table with them, he took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him; and he vanished from their sight. They said to each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he was talking to us on the road, while he was opening the scriptures to us?” (Luke 24:28 -32) Read the entire passage here
Dr. David Gill, longtime friend of TCC
(and our Interim Pastor in 2011-2012) is coming to visit us this Sunday. His sermon, drawing from Luke 24 is titled “The Presence of the Lord.” David Gill recently retired from his position as the Mockler-Phillips Professor of Workplace Theology & Business Ethics and Director of the Mockler Center
for Faith & Ethics in the Workplace at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and is retiring and moving back to his family and long-time home in Oakland, California. Join us as we celebrate, and send him off, thanking him for his help, time, dedication and service at TCC and GCTS. In addition to our celebration of David’s retirement, we’ll hear from another beloved David at TCC, our own homegrown missionary David Spinale. He is coming to give a report to the congregation about his ministry with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship in New Hampshire.
