My story:

Born and raised in French-speaking Switzerland, my first real job was in forestry. At 18, I attended the Abbey School for the English language in London (close to the Beatles’ studio on Abbey Road). At that time, I made a serious commitment to serving Jesus and joined Youth With A Mission (YWAM) at Holmsted Manor in West Sussex. I participated in several outreaches, including East Africa and Western Europe. In 1986, I enrolled in the School of Biblical Studies (SBS) at Makapala on the Big Island of Hawaii. The best part of that time involved meeting and marrying Donna (née DiMaggio, from Pittsburgh PA) who served on SBS staff. After mission work on Oahu, the Big Island and Togo, West Africa, we both pursued graduate studies at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (Hamilton, MA) and the University of Toronto. Through the years, Tom (with Donna) served on various ministry and pastoral teams including Knox Presbyterian Church, Toronto, and North Point Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Peabody, MA. Through the years, we have both served on various ministry and pastoral teams including at historic Park Street Church, Knox Presbyterian Church, Toronto, and more recently, North Point Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Peabody, MA. Our son Marcus is a student at Gordon College.

My journey to TCC:

Trinitarian Congregational Church feels very much like home since Donna and I were both ordained by TCC in 2012 and served as Pastoral Associates until 2015. I returned as part-time Interim Senior Pastor in early 2016. The call to become the next Senior Pastor was extended in 2017. By the grace of God, TCC has a great heritage as a faithful witness. The Lord is at work in our midst as we proclaim the Gospel in Metrowest and throughout the world. We are fervently praying for renewal and revival in our region!

A meaningful verse to me:

“He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:29-31).
The Book of Isaiah in general and chapter 40 in particular continues to have a profound impact in my own life and journey of faith. This promise is captured in the voice of the Good Shepherd, the Lord Jesus, to all of us today and our own weariness: “Come to me all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28 ESV)
